This session is a cornerstone of health in our high-altitude Flagstaff community. Using the five classic strokes—effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, friction, and vibration—our therapists create a seamless experience that relaxes the mind and body. While gentler than our medical sessions, it remains a professional, therapeutic application of touch.

History & Philosophy

Often attributed to Per Henrik Ling and Johan Georg Mezger in the 19th century, Swedish Massage (or "Classic Massage") was the first modern system to use an understanding of physiology and anatomy to promote healing. At Back to Healing, we honor this tradition by focusing on the "heart-centered" flow of blood and lymph.
